Touchless Water Dispenser with Digital Payment – UPI

Description:

The Touchless Water Dispenser with Digital Payment – UPI is an innovative working model designed for student technology exhibitions to demonstrate how IoT and automation can be integrated with digital payments for hygienic and efficient water dispensing.

This project is built on a 40×50 cm base, using foam board or sun board to support all components. The system is powered by an Arduino UNO microcontroller, which controls the AC water pump via a relay module. A GSM module (SIM800L) is used to simulate UPI payment verification and communication.

Once a digital payment (simulated via GSM) is confirmed, the relay activates the water pump, allowing water to flow through a 12mm transparent tube connected via L-bends and controlled by a cut-off valve. A 16×2 LCD display with I2C module shows payment and dispensing status. The entire setup operates touch-free, promoting hygiene, especially in public spaces.

This project is an excellent demonstration of smart automation, Arduino programming, cashless systems, and public hygiene, making it ideal for science fairs and smart city model demonstrations.

Working Mechanism:

  1. Power Supply: The system is powered via a 2-pin plug and a regulated power board that provides necessary voltage to Arduino and the AC pump via a relay.
  2. UPI Payment Simulation:
    • The user is prompted via LCD to make a digital UPI payment.
    • Upon receiving a “payment confirmation” (simulated via button press or GSM input), Arduino sends a signal to the relay module.
  3. Water Dispensing:
    • The relay activates the AC pump.
    • Water flows through the cut-off valve, into the 12mm transparent tube, and out via the L bend outlet.
    • After a few seconds, the pump is automatically turned off, simulating controlled dispensing.
  4. LCD Feedback:
    • The LCD module shows messages like “Waiting for Payment”, “Payment Received”, and “Dispensing Water…” to guide the user through the process.
