Smart Fire Alert System for Trains Arduino and GSM

Description:

The “Smart Fire Alert System for Trains Using Arduino and GSM” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how automated fire detection and suppression systems can be used in trains to enhance passenger safety. This project simulates a smart fire safety system that detects fire, sounds an alert, activates a sprinkler system, and sends a notification via GSM (SIM800L module) for emergency response.

The model is constructed on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a train compartment equipped with fire safety mechanisms. The IR module continuously monitors for fire or excessive heat. When a fire is detected, the Arduino Uno microcontroller processes the signal and triggers a series of automated safety responses:

  1. Buzzer Alert: The buzzer is activated to alert passengers.
  2. LCD Display Notification: The 16×2 LCD module with I2C displays a warning message.
  3. GSM Emergency Notification: The GSM module (SIM800L) sends an SMS alert to emergency contacts.
  4. Fire Suppression System: The relay module activates the AC pump, which pumps water through the 16mm tube to the water sprinkler system. A servo motor controls the cut-off valve, ensuring proper water flow to extinguish the fire.

Additional components such as DVD motors and wheels help simulate train movement. The power distribution board, silk wires, 2-pin top, and jumper wires ensure proper connectivity and operation of the system.

This project provides students with hands-on learning in fire detection technology, Arduino programming, and GSM-based emergency response, demonstrating how automated fire safety systems can improve railway safety.
