The Smart Borewell Rescue Bot for Emergency Situations is a student-friendly working model designed to demonstrate how robotic systems can aid in rescuing children or animals trapped in deep borewells. Constructed on a 40×50 cm base using foam board or sun board, the model mimics a robotic rescue unit that can be lowered into a borewell shaft.

The rescue bot includes a vertical gear rack mechanism driven by gear motors to simulate lowering and lifting. An L clamp and dummy shaft are used to hold the rescue gear securely, while a remote control system allows users to operate the lifting and lowering action. All mechanical movements are achieved using gears and connecting wires, powered by gear motors and assembled with nuts and bolts for stability.

This project introduces students to basic robotics, gear movement, vertical motion systems, and rescue technologies used in real-world emergency situations. It is ideal for exhibitions focused on social impact, innovation, and engineering.

Working Mechanism:

  1. Power Supply:
    • The system is powered using a 2-pin top and power supply board to provide safe voltage to the Arduino, relay, and pump.
  2. Activation:
    • The bot is activated either manually or remotely via a GSM module.
    • An SMS command (simulated) can initiate the operation.
  3. Bot Movement / Lowering:
    • The Arduino controls a relay module, which powers the AC motor (or simulated rescue mechanism).
    • The rescue unit is lowered using silk wire through a guided PVC setup or transparent tube.
  4. LCD Display:
    • The LCD module shows messages like “Rescue in Progress”, “Victim Detected”, or “Rescue Complete”.
  5. Water Pump (Optional Use):
    • The AC pump can simulate air or pressure systems (optional), or be creatively repurposed to show extraction simulation.
  6. Rescue Simulation:
    • After reaching the bottom, the bot “grabs” the dummy (victim) and is lifted back, completing the simulated rescue.
