Sewage Water Treatment System
Description:
The Sewage Water Treatment System is a student-friendly working model constructed on a 40 × 50 cm foam board or sun board base. This model represents a simplified version of a real sewage treatment plant and demonstrates how wastewater can be purified for reuse using basic mechanical and electrical components.
The project uses an AC pump to circulate sewage water through a system of 12mm transparent tubes, valves, and filters. The water moves through multiple treatment chambers where sedimentation and filtration processes occur. Components like the cut-off valve, BO motor, and cycle spoke simulate mechanical operations like mixing or sediment separation. Cleaned water is then collected at the output stage.
This model promotes environmental awareness and helps students understand the science behind urban wastewater management, water recycling, and sustainable practices.
🧰 Materials Used:
- Foam board / Sun board – project base and structure (40 × 50 cm)
- 12mm Transparent Tube – water flow system
- Cut-off Valve – control water flow between chambers
- Silk Wire – electrical connections
- Connectors – for wiring and tubing joints
- AC Pump – to circulate water
- 2-Pin Top – power plug for the AC pump
- Battery Clip – optional DC power source for BO motor
- Voltage Regulator – maintain stable power output
- BO Motor – simulate mechanical mixing or aeration
- Grommets – seal tubing and wires
- Cycle Spoke – support mechanical rotation or stirring function
⚙️ How It Works (Working Principle):
- Wastewater is introduced into the system through the inlet pipe.
- The AC pump moves water through stages:
- Sedimentation: solids settle at the bottom
- Filtration: passes through gravel, sand, or cotton layers
- Aeration (optional): BO motor stirs the water to simulate oxygen supply
- Treated water exits the final outlet, representing clean, reusable water.
✅ Features:
- Demonstrates key wastewater treatment stages
- Recycles and reuses water using eco-friendly principles
- Uses a compact 40×50 cm layout
- Includes real mechanical flow and pump action
- Educational and interactive for school science fairs
🎯 Educational Value:
Students learn about:
- Environmental science and sustainability
- Water purification processes
- Real-life applications of pumps, valves, and filtration
- Practical engineering using simple electronics
