Description:
The “Safe Navigation System for Hill Turns” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how automated safety mechanisms can help prevent accidents on blind curves in hilly regions. This project simulates a smart navigation system that detects approaching vehicles on sharp turns and alerts drivers using LED indicators, improving road safety and preventing collisions.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a hill road with sharp turns. IR modules are placed strategically on either side of the curve to detect vehicles approaching from both directions. When a vehicle is detected, the IR sensor sends a signal to the circuit, activating LED lights that act as warning indicators for other drivers.
The system is powered using a battery clip with voltage regulation managed by a 7805 voltage regulator, ensuring a stable 5V power supply. The circuit includes 5V relays, BC547 transistors, and IN4007 diodes to control signal processing efficiently. A PCB board is used for proper circuit connections, while resistors regulate current flow. Silk wires, connecting wires, and straws help structure and stabilize the wiring and sensor placements.
This project provides students with hands-on learning in automation, traffic safety systems, and real-time vehicle detection, showcasing how sensor-based road safety solutions can enhance navigation on hilly and curved roads.
