Intelligent LPG Safety System with Auto Shut-Off
Description:
The Intelligent LPG Safety System with Auto Shut-Off is a smart safety model built on a 40×50 cm platform, aimed at detecting LPG gas leaks and automatically shutting off the gas supply to prevent accidents. This project uses Arduino Uno as the brain of the system, integrated with a gas sensor that continuously monitors air for LPG leakage.
When a gas leak is detected, the Arduino immediately triggers a buzzer alarm and displays a warning message on a 16×2 LCD with I2C module. Simultaneously, a servo motor is activated to automatically close the gas valve using a connected gas regulator, ensuring safety. A push-on button can be used to simulate reset or manual testing.
All components are mounted on a foam board or sun board, with the power distributed through a dedicated power distribution board for safe operation. This project is ideal for exhibitions focusing on home safety, smart kitchens, and automation.
⚙️ Working Mechanism:
- Detection Phase:
- The gas sensor constantly monitors air for the presence of LPG gas.
- When gas concentration crosses a safety threshold, it sends an analog/digital signal to the Arduino Uno.
- Alert Phase:
- The Arduino processes the signal and activates the buzzer to alert people nearby.
- A warning message (e.g., “GAS LEAK DETECTED!”) is displayed on the LCD module.
- Shut-Off Phase:
- The Arduino sends a signal to the servo motor, which rotates to close the gas regulator valve, simulating auto shut-off.
- The system remains in alert mode until manually reset using the push-on button.
