Description
The Anti-Fall Edge Detection Robot is a smart student project designed to prevent robots from falling off edges, stairs, or elevated platforms by using infrared (IR) sensors. The robot’s body is built using a chassis with BO wheels and a caster wheel, allowing smooth and stable movement. The BO motors, connected with nuts and bolts, provide the driving force to move the robot forward. At the core of its functionality lies the IR sensor, which continuously scans the surface. If the sensor detects an edge or drop, the system automatically sends signals through the relay and PCB board, stopping or reversing the motors to prevent the robot from falling.
Supporting electronics such as the 7805 voltage regulator, transistor, diode, resistors, and SPDT switch ensure safe and reliable operation. The buzzer acts as an alert mechanism when the robot reaches a risky edge. Powered by a 9V battery clip, the robot is lightweight, portable, and easy to operate.
This project is a great way for students to understand the practical integration of sensors, motor control, and safety mechanisms, making it ideal for STEM learning, science fairs, and robotics exhibitions.
