Smart Waste Level Alert and intimation system for municipality
Description:
The “Smart Waste Level Alert and Intimation System for Municipality” is an innovative working model designed for students to understand how smart waste management systems can help municipalities optimize garbage collection and reduce overflow issues. This project demonstrates an automated system that detects waste levels in a dustbin and sends an alert when it reaches a certain threshold.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, with artificial plants added for visual enhancement. The IR sensor is placed inside the bin to detect the waste level. When the bin fills up, the BC547 transistor and 5V relay activate an LED indicator, signaling that the bin needs to be emptied. The 7805 voltage regulator ensures a stable 5V power supply, while the IN4007 diode protects the circuit from voltage surges. Resistors control current flow, and connecting wires establish connections between the components.
Additional elements like straws and battery clips are used to secure the wiring and structure. This project provides students with hands-on learning in automation, electronics, and smart city innovations, showcasing how municipalities can implement IoT-based waste management systems to enhance cleanliness and efficiency.
