The “Smart Speed Breaker Power Generator” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how mechanical energy from vehicles can be converted into electrical energy using a gear motor system embedded in a speed breaker. This project simulates a real-world energy harvesting system, showing how road infrastructure can be used to generate renewable energy.
The model is constructed on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a road with a speed breaker mechanism. When a vehicle (or weight) moves over the speed breaker, it presses down on a dummy shaft, which is connected to a gear motor. The rotational motion of the gear motor generates electricity, which is then passed through a bridge rectifier to convert AC to DC power.
The generated electricity is used to power LEDs, demonstrating how this system can be utilized for streetlights or other low-power applications. The structure is supported by L-clamps, PVC pipes, and straws to ensure proper alignment and functionality. Silk wires are used for efficient electrical connections.
This project provides students with hands-on learning in renewable energy, mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion, and sustainable urban solutions, showcasing how speed breakers can be utilized as an innovative source of green energy.
