Smart Saline Level Alert System
Description:
The “Smart Saline Level Alert System” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how automated monitoring can enhance patient care in hospitals. This project simulates a real-time alert system that notifies healthcare staff when the saline level in an IV drip is about to run out, ensuring timely replacement and preventing complications.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a saline drip monitoring system. The system operates as follows:
Working Mechanism:
- Saline Tube & Spring Mechanism:
- The saline tube is attached to a spring that moves downward as the saline level decreases.
- When the saline reaches a critically low level, the tension in the spring activates the limit switch.
- Limit Switch Activation:
- The limit switch detects when the saline is almost empty and sends a signal to trigger an alert.
- Alert System (LED & Buzzer):
- A LED light turns on, visually indicating that the saline needs replacement.
- A buzzer sounds an alarm, ensuring immediate attention from healthcare staff.
- Power Supply & Connectivity:
- A battery clip powers the system for reliable operation.
- Resistors and connecting wires ensure stable electrical flow.
Applications & Benefits:
- Prevents Risks for Patients by alerting nurses to replace saline before it runs out.
- Ideal for Hospitals and Clinics to improve patient monitoring efficiency.
- Provides Hands-on Learning in healthcare automation, electrical circuits, and smart alert systems.
