The “Carbon Capture Tech for Paint Production” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how carbon dioxide (CO₂) can be captured and repurposed for sustainable paint production. This project simulates a carbon capture system that collects CO₂ emissions using a suction fan and processes it for potential use in eco-friendly paint manufacturing.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a carbon capture unit integrated into an industrial setup. The system operates as follows:
- Suction Fan & Straws: The suction fan draws in CO₂-rich air, directing it through a straw-based filtration system that can be enhanced with a chemical solution to absorb CO₂.
- IR Module for Air Quality Monitoring: The IR sensor detects CO₂ levels, triggering the system when high carbon emissions are present.
- Electronic Control System:
- 5V Relay & 7805 Voltage Regulator manage power distribution.
- Diodes, Transistors, and Resistors ensure smooth electrical operation.
- LED Indicators provide visual feedback on system status.
- Battery Clip & Connecting Wires: Power the circuit and maintain stable operation.
The captured CO₂ can theoretically be converted into calcium carbonate, a key ingredient in paint manufacturing, making this a sustainable solution for reducing carbon footprints in industrial processes.
This project provides students with hands-on learning in carbon capture technology, air pollution control, and industrial sustainability, showcasing how advanced filtration and sensor-based automation can contribute to greener manufacturing.
