Description:
The “Automated Dam Gate Management System” is an innovative working model designed for students to understand how automated systems regulate water flow in dams. This project demonstrates the mechanized opening and closing of a dam gate to control water levels, a crucial aspect of water resource management and flood prevention.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, simulating a dam structure. A gear motor connected to a gear rack and gear wheel controls the movement of the dam gate, allowing it to open or close smoothly. Connecting wires and a BC547 transistor help manage the circuit’s operation.
The system includes LED indicators to signal the gate’s status, while a push-to-on button and toggle switch allow manual operation. A limit switch ensures that the gate stops moving once it reaches the desired position. Cycle spokes, L-clamps, and straws provide additional mechanical support to the structure. A toy ball is used to represent water flow, visually demonstrating how the system regulates water levels.
This project provides students with hands-on learning in automation, electronics, and mechanical engineering while offering a practical understanding of dam operations and water management systems.
