Description:
The “Smart Laser Security for Hostels” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how laser-based security systems can enhance safety in hostels, dormitories, or restricted areas. This project simulates a real-time intrusion detection system that activates an alarm when an unauthorized person attempts to enter a protected area.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a hostel entrance or corridor equipped with a laser security system. The system works as follows:
- Laser Diode & Mirrors: A laser beam is projected and reflected using mirrors to form an invisible security boundary.
- LDR Module (Light Dependent Resistor): Monitors light intensity. When the laser beam is interrupted (such as by an intruder crossing the path), the LDR senses the change and sends a signal to the circuit.
- 5V Relay & 7805 Voltage Regulator: Ensures efficient power distribution and controls circuit activation.
- IN4007 Diode & BC547 Transistor: Work together to regulate current flow and provide stable switching operations.
- Resistors: Control voltage levels to ensure proper circuit operation.
- LED Indicators & Buzzer: When the laser beam is interrupted, the LEDs flash, and a buzzer sounds an alarm, notifying hostel authorities or security personnel.
- Battery Clips & Connecting Wires: Provide power to the system and maintain circuit stability.
This project provides hands-on learning in laser-based security technology, automation, and intrusion detection, showcasing how modern security solutions can improve safety in hostels and residential areas.
