Smart Railway Gate Automation
Description:
The “Smart Railway Gate Automation” is an innovative working model for students that demonstrates how automated railway crossing systems function using IR sensors and servo motors. This project simulates a smart railway gate that automatically opens and closes when a train approaches and departs, ensuring safety at railway crossings and reducing human errors.
The model is built on a 40 × 50 cm Foam Board or Sun Board base, representing a miniature railway crossing. The toy train and train track simulate real-world train movement. IR sensor modules are placed near the track to detect the approaching train. When the train is detected, the Arduino Uno microcontroller processes the input signal and triggers the servo motor to lower the railway gate, ensuring vehicles and pedestrians stop at the crossing. Once the train has passed, the IR sensor detects the clearance, and the Arduino instructs the servo motor to lift the gate automatically.
Jumper wires are used to establish connections between components, ensuring smooth functionality. This project provides students with hands-on learning in automation, Arduino programming, and railway safety systems, showcasing how smart railway crossings can improve safety and efficiency in transportation.
